Ericka
Tyner (French Horn) is the newest member of the Sparkle City Brass, having
joined the group in January, 2005.Ericka is a native of Florence, SC. She
earned her Bachelor's degree in Music from Converse College and received her
Masters in Music in French Horn performance from the University of Alabama in 2004.
Ericka is currently the adjunct professor of French
Horn at Converse College, where she also plays in the Converse Wind
Ensemble, Symphony, and Woodwind Quintet. She also teaches at Greenville
Tech and Spartanburg Tech and performs with the Greater Spartanburg
Philharmonic.
Ericka has participated in the Brevard Music
Festival and TransAtlantic Horn Quartet summer workshops, and has performed
in masterclasses with Michael Thompson, Laurel Ohlson, and David Jolley. She
is also a winner in the 2004 Southeast Horn Workshop Horn Quartet
Competition. She spends her summers in residence at Pennsylvania’s
Performing Arts Institute.
Ericka is a very talented musician and we are excited to have her in the
group!
