Ken Frick, a Waukegan, Illinois
native, has lived in Spartanburg since 1990. Ken graduated summa cum
laude from the DePauw University School of Music where he was a two-time
concerto award winner. In college, he
performed with virtually all of the musical groups including the Faculty
Brass Quintet and during the summers, he played trumpet at various amusement
parks including Disneyland, Cedar Point and Opryland. In graduate school, at
the University of Michigan, he performed in the elite Michigan Symphony
Band. Following college Ken has performed with the Lake Forest (IL)
Symphony, was principal trumpet in the Waukegan Symphony Orchestra and solo
cornet in the Waukegan Municipal Band. More recently, in Spartanburg, Ken
has performed with the Converse College Wind Ensemble, soloed with the
Spartanburg Community Band and is currently a member of the Spartanburg
Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonic Brass Quintet as well as the
Sparkle City Brass. He is active volunteering, having been the Treasurer
and Past President of The Music Foundation of Spartanburg and is currently
finance chairman for Boy Scout Troop 1. |
