Marshall M. Kirby (tuba) is a native of
Hendersonville, North Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Music Education
and Performance degree from Converse College in 1997 and received his
Masters of Music Education from Converse College in 1983.
Marshall recently retired after working as a band director in the South
Carolina public schools for 31 years. He was the Band Coordinator and
Director of Bands at Spartanburg High School from 1997-2004 and prior to
that was Director of Bands at Boiling Springs High School in Spartanburg for
ten years. Previously, he was Director of Bands at Jonesville High School.
Marshall is a former member of the Spartanburg
Symphony Orchestra and was a longtime member of the Converse Wind Ensemble.
He is currently a member of the First Baptist Church orchestra and was
Tubist for the Converse College brass quintet from 1977-86.
